Is the environment child-centered?
- Are activities and toys age-appropriate?
- Are children’s projects displayed at children’s eye level?
- Is there child sized furniture?
Does the environment encourage positive social behavior?
- Are activities planned that encourage physical activity?
- Do caregivers provide reasons for rules?
- Would the noise level be comfortable for your child?
If infants are present, are their needs being met?
- Are diapering areas sanitary?
- Are toys and play areas sanitized daily?
- Are schedules flexible and designed to meet needs of individual infants?
Are children encouraged to feel good about themselves?
- Are children allowed choices throughout the day?
- Are the children happy and actively involved?
- Is independence encouraged?
Do you feel the program is a safe and comfortable place to be?
- Are the indoor and outdoor environments safe and clean for children?
- Are there enough adults for the group’s size and age?
- Is there ample space?
Do other aspects of the facility meet your needs?
- Are parents encouraged to visit?
- Does the program follow an educational curriculum?
- Is a schedule of daily activities posted and followed?
- Is care consistent, or is there a great deal of turnover?
- Is the program accredited?
